"Aloe Striata," 2003 Oil on Canvas,

Louise Donahue is a California artist. Her latest series of paintings is based on her ability to capture the glowing effects of sunlight on botanical subjects.
As the Impressionists before her, Donahue involves the viewer by skillfully suggesting the subject rather depicting an exact rendering. Nature's fleeting reflections, shadows, and transparent effects of light are influential ploys for her abstract brush strokes to bring together a representational image.
