 More Info

Kyle Milligan is one of the rare pourers of iron, with which he creates modern takes on Victorian fires screens and art nouveau architectural gates in addition to sleek abstract metal work. Fascinated by the curve and stretch of an object, he searched for a more flexible and less toxic medium to explore, deciding on rubber. Milligan's fantasy "Polyp" series is a response to the music and culture of the 1970s, realized in to the jellyfish of Northern California where he resides. Mounted and searching sets of polyps and smaller piles of polyps are wire woven into anthropomorphic mouthed trees, then finished with vibrant orange and purple clay Milligan's work are an exercise in control of his mediums and a celebration of space.
